Freelancing - Good Habits

Untitled note

On a daily basis

Thrive on meetings

Always prepare for meetings carefully. Carefully research your client’s line of business, adapt your list of references and prepare some questions that will allow you to demonstrate your interest in the company. Spend some time browsing the “business” shelves in libraries – today, there are loads of books which will teach you how to be both convincing and efficient.

Manage the admin aspects of your work

Even if admin work doesn’t excite you, you need to force yourself to stay on top of the paperwork, as otherwise you run the risk of being swamped.
If it all seems a little complicated to start with, you will soon realise that clients perceive all this as a mark of professionalism and that they appreciate it!

Make the most of your successful projects

Ask your satisfied clients if they can recommend you to their contacts, advertise your references, write a white paper or an ebook that you could publish on slideshare. It’s well known that working on projects attracts more projects!
